The acting head of state of Venezuela, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, took the official oath of office. The ceremony was performed by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez.
“I stand here as the Executive Vice President of the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to take the oath of office. “I do this with a feeling of deep sorrow for the suffering that illegal military aggression has inflicted on our people and fatherland,” Rodriguez said in a statement during a live broadcast on Telesur TV.
Delcy Rodriguez is a graduate of the Central University of Venezuela, where she received a law degree in 1993. During her student years, she actively participated in public life, leading the student movement. She later studied labor law in depth in Paris, although she did not complete the full university program there. In her professional career, Rodriguez devoted herself to teaching at her alma mater and also held a leadership position in the trade union within the Venezuelan Association of Labor Lawyers.
