Zagreb and Kyiv agreed on intentions for joint production of defense products
On Monday, the authorities of Croatia and Ukraine concluded a document in Kyiv outlining the directions of future cooperation in the defense sector. According to the Croatian Ministry of Defense, the head of the department, Ivan Anusic, during a working visit to Ukraine, together with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, signed a letter of intent to organize joint production of defense products.
According to the text of the document, both sides express their readiness to deepen cooperation in the field of defense production with the organization of joint production of defense materiel in the territories of both countries. It is especially noted that the products that will be produced at Croatian enterprises are intended for subsequent deliveries to Ukraine.
The document clarifies that Croatia also plans to purchase jointly produced defense products for its own needs. After the end of hostilities in Ukraine, supplies of such products are envisaged for other EU and NATO member states by mutual agreement of the parties.
The signatories also agreed to jointly search for sources of funding through the European defense industrial development programs EDIP and SAFE. The document specifically emphasizes that this eight-paragraph letter of intent is not a legally binding agreement.
