I’m a Virgin flight attendant and these are the must-have Chemist Warehouse essentials – including a $5.50 item

An Australian flight attendant has revealed the essential chemist items that she always packs in her carry-on bag.

Bell, who works as a Virgin Australia flight attendant, shared the eight Chemist Warehouse stocked products that make her look and feel her best while working on board as a cabin crew member.

The Aussie woman shared the chemist finds in a popular video where she revealed her list her affordable beauty and health buys she recommends all ‘new recruits’ pack in their luggage.

Pleasingly, most of her product picks were a bargain, costing less than $11.

Being on board an aircraft is a notoriously dry environment, which can easily cause dehydration issues. So, many of her product recommendations are chosen to tackle this problem.

She explained that working on board planes could be a ‘super harsh environment’ – particularly ‘for the hands’. Accordingly, one of her top product picks was a hydrating hand cream from cult skincare brand CeraVe.

‘Ceramides are elite,’ the flight attendant raved about the CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream, which costs $10.79 for a 100ml bottle.

‘This stuff is gold,’ Bell added of the formulation about the formula, which contains three essential ceramides and is made to protect chapped, chafed and cracked skin.

The dry and low humidity air inside a plane cabin can also cause dehydration issues for the lips.

Accordingly, the woman claimed that she’d tested ’13 different lip balms’ – before finally settling on a winner.

Her tried and tested pick is the Dermal Therapy Lip Balm Enriched with Manuka Honey, sold at the Australian retailer for $5.49. ‘This one won!’ Bell declared in her online post.

The concentrated lip balm is ‘designed to moisturise and heal severely dry and chapped lips,’ according to the online product listing. It’s also enriched with MGO 400+ Manuka Honey, which is renowned for its healing, hydrating and soothing properties.

Staying hydrated from the inside out is also a priority, which is why another highlighted plane must-have was electrolyte tablets. She favoured the Hydralyte Apple Blackcurrant Electrolyte tablets, with a 20 pack selling for $8.39, explaining that they ‘assist me in remaining hydrated’.

Constantly jumping on and off flights can affect an unsettled stomach, which is why the flight attendant also included two digestion-related buys in her carry-on.

The self-declared ‘Queen of Bloating’ raved about Caruso’s Bloat Eze 60 capsules $22 as ‘the digestive enzymes help’ ease any discomfort.

Additionally, the flight attendant also singled out Breath Pearls Natural Capsules 50-pack soft gels $9.49, which aim to freshen the breath while simultaneously soothing the stomach.

‘[Does] wonders for trapped air,’ Bell wrote in her post, adding that she had raved about them to her colleagues. ‘Got all my girls onto these‘.

Another chemist essential for staying fresh throughout the duration of a flight was a solid deodorant, like the Mitchum Natural Power deodorant range, which retails for $7.49.

The flight attendant’s final two Chemist Warehouse suggestions were a bit of a surprise.

First up was a nifty find to block out noise for long haul flights: AudiPlugs Soft Silicone Comfort Plugs, three pairs for $8.99.

‘Favourite ear plugs for an uninterrupted sleep – trust me I’ve tried them all,’ she wrote.

The final tip was a multi-tasking product in the Euky Bear Sniffly Nose Room Spray $10.99.

The woman listed off a number of uses for the spray both during flights and even in between on stopovers.

‘Multi use, opens sinus, great for hotel rooms [and] antibacterial,’ she explained.

Replies on the post thanked the Aussie flight attendant for not gatekeeping her on-board secrets.

‘Saving this for my [next] flight,’ one woman replied.

‘Heaven sent! Will try these,’ another added.

‘Me watching this while on my Perth layover and having a chemist just in front of the hotel,’ read another response. To this, Bell laughingly replied: ‘…silently slinks into the chemist’.
