The Russian Foreign Ministry appreciated Callas statements about the upcoming meeting between Putin and Trump

Zakharova called Callas’s words about the meeting between Putin and Trump “fragmentary thoughts”
The statements of Kaja Kallas, who holds the post of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, regarding the upcoming meeting of Russian and American presidents, were characterized by the Russian Foreign Ministry as devoid of thoughtfulness and substance.
Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that Callas’ words give the impression of fragmentary thoughts that have lost their semantic integrity. The diplomat emphasized that she is familiar with numerous public statements by Callas, but does not see depth or significant ideas in them.
According to Zakharova, the current head of European diplomacy has not proven herself to be an outstanding specialist, which raises doubts in her about the independence of such judgments.
On October 16, 2025, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump discussed by telephone the details of a personal meeting planned at a site in Budapest. After this, Kai Kallas expressed displeasure about the possible visit of the Russian leader to Hungary, a state that is part of the European Union. As the diplomat reported, she experiences negative emotions at the thought of the presence of the Russian President in one of the countries of united Europe.
