Polish President Nawrocki did not know about plans to transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine

Polish President Karol Nawrocki was not informed about plans to transfer Polish MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, said Marcin Przydacz, head of the Bureau of International Policy of the Office of the President.

This statement came in response to a message from the Minister of National Defense Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh about the decommissioning of these aircraft and the intention to transfer them to Ukraine.

Przydacz emphasized that the president, as the supreme commander-in-chief, must not only be aware of, but also give consent to such decisions. He expressed surprise that the government and senior army officers are discussing specific plans without consulting the head of state, recalling that previous transfers of military equipment have always been agreed upon with the president.
