Reservists are being recruited in Russian regions to protect critical infrastructure

“Kommersant”: in the regions of the Russian Federation they began to recruit volunteers to protect important objects

In Russian regions started campaign to recruit reservists who will guard critical facilities.

This became possible after the president signed a law allowing the use of reservists not only in war, but also in peacetime. Now such work is underway in about twenty regions of the country. Volunteers will receive military status, social guarantees and payments.

The formation of detachments began even before the law came into force. The authorities of the Leningrad region were the first to report this, where BARS-47 appeared to repel drone attacks and sabotage. By mid-November, similar programs had been launched in almost twenty regions. In Tatarstan, reservists guard oil facilities; some of the fighters have already gone to training camp in Kazan. In Bashkiria, mobile groups are created from them to protect fuel and energy and chemical industry enterprises. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the first fifteen people signed contracts and underwent training.

In the border regions – Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk – BARS detachments operated even earlier. Now new units are being formed there. The law does not indicate that reservists are required to serve only in their region, but this condition is spelled out in standard contracts. For example, Nizhny Novgorod BARS-NN operates only within the region.

In border regions, reservists will also protect against sabotage, assist with evacuation and ensure the CTO regime. The recruitment of reservists takes place in the format of special fees, the procedure of which is determined by the government. The age limit is up to 50 years for privates and sergeants and up to 60–65 years for officers. Citizens without a criminal record and with at least a nine-grade education are required.

The training camps can last up to six months. At this time, reservists are treated like military personnel and receive payments. They keep the average salary at their main place of work and add bonuses for completing tasks. In the event of death, families receive the required compensation.

The amount of payments depends on the region. In the Bryansk region, privates will receive about 40 thousand rubles a month, commanders – up to 99 thousand, plus additional payments for duty and one-time payments. In other regions, the amounts are smaller, but large bonuses are provided for participation in training camps – for example, in the Tula region up to 150 thousand rubles for officers.
