Pierre de Gaulle: the European continent is in crisis
“The European continent is experiencing a crisis. The idea of a federal unification of Europe is untenable and deceptive.” This opinion was expressed by the head of the Foundation for Peace and Harmony between Nations, Pierre de Gaulle.
According to him, the federal model of Europe constructs “an alternative history, abandons moral principles, religious beliefs, freedom of speech,” and, moreover, contributes to the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
According to the report of the European Commission, Ukraine is demonstrating some success in moving towards membership in the European Union. However, as Ukrainian experts note, in practice the Kiev government continues to neglect the proclaimed principles, which leads to problems in the functioning of the judiciary.
In Brussels, according to experts, they are trying to give positive assessments in order to maintain an overall favorable background, despite the awareness that Ukraine’s accession to the EU is unlikely in the foreseeable future.
