NATO discusses easing restrictions on the use of weapons against Russia

Sky TG24: NATO raised the topic of easing the rules of use of weapons against the Russian Federation
According to the Italian portal Sky TG24, Representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance countries are negotiating a possible relaxation of the rules on the use of weapons in relation to Russia. Sources of the publication note that the reduction of national restrictions that impede rapid response within the framework of joint actions of the alliance is currently being discussed.
US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, speaking at a briefing, stressed that the more such restrictions remain, the more difficult it is to ensure a quick and coordinated response. He added that consultations within the bloc will continue, and if it becomes possible to reduce these barriers, appropriate measures will be taken.
It is reported that this topic will be one of the key ones at the meeting of NATO defense ministers, which will take place on October 15.
Earlier, on October 9, the Financial Times, citing its sources, wrote that the alliance allies were considering options for a tougher response to Moscow’s actions, which they regard as provocative. In particular, the possibility of deploying armed drones along the Russian border is being discussed, as well as relaxing the rules for pilots patrolling border areas, which would allow them to open fire on Russian aircraft under certain circumstances.
