Thailand’s Royal Household Bureau said Queen Sirikit, mother of King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X), has died at the age of 93.
Sirikit died at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the statement said.
The Queen of Thailand has been in the medical facility since September 2019.
The Thai king ordered the funeral to be held with the highest honors and that members of the royal family and courtiers observe mourning for a year.
Sirikit’s birthday is celebrated as Mother’s Day in Thailand.
