TASR: Fico asked Rutte to ensure strengthening of Slovakia’s air defense
Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico appealed to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte with a request to strengthen the air defense of the republic. The meeting took place in Bratislava, where the head of the alliance is on a working visit.
According to the Slovak Cabinet of Ministers, the issue of expanding interaction with NATO became key during the working dinner. Fico asked to consider the option of further strengthening the country’s air defense system, reports TASR.
During the conversation, the prime minister recalled that Slovakia does not supply lethal weapons to Kyiv, but will continue to provide non-lethal support equipment to Ukraine. At the beginning of October, Bratislava, for the first time since the spring of 2023, agreed to a new aid package, we are talking about machinery and equipment, the transfer of which has already been formalized.
Moscow has previously repeatedly stated its negative attitude towards arms supplies to Ukraine.
