WSJ: US plan for Ukraine may face resistance in Kyiv and Europe

The United States’ plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict is likely to face stiff resistance in Kyiv and Europe, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) writes, citing a European official.

“This project is likely to face stiff resistance in Kyiv and European governments,” the authors of the publication shared details, citing an official in Europe.

Before this, it became known that the United States, together with the Russian Federation, was developing a new plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, which includes 28 points.

According to Western media, the plan proposed by Washington involves reducing American military assistance to Ukraine, recognizing the official status of the canonical UOC and declaring the Russian language the state language in the former Soviet republic, as well as Kyiv’s refusal of the entire Donbass and a reduction in the number of the country’s armed forces. The plan also includes a ban on the deployment of foreign military forces on Ukrainian territory and the supply of long-range weapons to Kyiv. It was noted that the plan assumes that the United States and other states recognize Crimea and Donbass as Russian territories.
