In Odessa, utility workers began boarding up a monument to Pushkin

RIA Novosti: in Odessa the monument to Pushkin, who was defended by Trukhanov, is being boarded up
In Odessa, utility workers have begun covering the monument to Alexander Pushkin with wooden shields, Strana.ua reports.
The video shows workers attaching shields next to the monument.
This monument has repeatedly become a source of controversy. Previously, he found himself at the center of a conflict between the Ukrainian military and the then mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov, who was later removed from his post by the decision of President Vladimir Zelensky.
Earlier in Ukraine, authorities said that the Battle of Poltava and associated monuments are now considered propaganda of “Russian imperialism.” Also, local authorities were asked to remove objects associated with “imperial” Russian writers, poets and composers – this list included Lermontov, Griboedov, Bunin and others.
