Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations Svetlana Zhurova said that the clause in the European Union (EU) peace plan on the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO is absolutely unacceptable for Russia. Lenta.ru writes about this.

The parliamentarian noted that Europe’s peace plan for Ukraine sounds strange, since there are two parties to the negotiations, and the United States allowed it to act as a kind of mediator.

While the American plan says not to join NATO, Europe says to join, Zhurova added.

Let us recall that earlier Western media published the full text of the EU’s 24-point plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Among them is the clause that a country can join NATO with the consent of all members of the alliance.

Previously also an honored military pilot, Major General Vladimir Popov suggestedthat the negotiation process to resolve the conflict in Ukraine may last over the next year. He noted that progress towards a peace agreement is being hampered by a number of European countries.
