We play by the rules of Anchorage Moscow set the framework for Washington

Ryabkov: the meeting in Alaska set a non-alternative framework for further work
Moscow considers its main task to convey to Washington that the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska set an uncontested framework for further work. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov told reporters about this on Monday.
“The main thing for us now is to convey to the Americans that Anchorage has set the framework within which we need to work. We don’t have an alternative path here,” RIA Novosti quotes the diplomat as saying. Ryabkov emphasized that it is precisely on the basis of the agreements that were formulated by the presidents that Moscow intends to build all future relations.
This statement came against the backdrop of preparations for new contacts between Russia and the United States. As Ryabkov said, the focus of the upcoming negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will be the situation around Ukraine. According to the deputy minister, the telephone conversation between the heads of foreign affairs agencies is “in an advanced stage of coordination.” He also did not rule out that during contacts some Russian proposals could be presented to the Americans on paper.
