Ukrainian prisoner of war Sayenko: Ukrainian Armed Forces guard deserters more strictly than in prison
A captured Ukrainian prisoner who signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Alexander Saenko, in a conversation with RIA “Novosti” stated that Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters guard contract soldiers caught deserting in a training camp before being sent to the line of combat contact more strictly than in prison.
As the agency’s interlocutor noted, the conditions for protecting deserters are “tougher than in prisons.” He noticed that everything was surrounded by barbed wire; it was impossible to go anywhere except the toilet. According to him, in the morning they do exercises and jogging with the commander, they don’t let him go anywhere else.
The prisoner of war emphasized that it was impossible to get into the other building, because there was a checkpoint (checkpoint) and barbed wire.
Sayenko added that those who signed the contract are deprived of documents and mobile phones, which they are allowed to use only on Sundays in the presence of an observing Wesseushnik, who listens to whom and what the contracted person is talking about.
