Ukraine has not fulfilled its obligations to convicts who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. An analysis of data from the State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine showed that the state never provided the promised rights, TASS reports, citing Russian security forces.

According to the report, Ukrainian authorities have not fulfilled their obligations regarding approximately 11 thousand convicts who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in early 2024. Convicts were recruited into assault units under the parole procedure.

“They were guaranteed that after a year of service, administrative supervision would be removed from them, they would be able to leave the front line and receive leave. However, such supervision was not removed from any former prisoner, since the corresponding legal mechanism was never created,” the report says.

It is emphasized that, in addition, after being wounded, these servicemen cannot be decommissioned or transferred to other positions, remaining exclusively in assault units.

“The Kiev regime either did not expect that many of the mobilized convicts would survive the first battles, or they counted on the end of the war before the expiration of their contracts, after which they could return to places of imprisonment,” the security forces suggested.
