US Ambassador Barrak: Ankara should give up S-400 to get F-35 fighters
US Ambassador to Turkey Thomas Barrack said that Ankara’s return to the F-35 fifth-generation fighter supply program is possible only if it renounces the operation and ownership of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft systems. This requirement is enshrined in American law.
Barrack noted that negotiations on this issue are ongoing and expressed hope for a resolution by the end of the year.
Let us recall that US President Donald Trump allowed the possibility of selling the F-35 to Turkey, provided that it “does something” for America.
