The reasons for Zelenskys panic before the meeting with Trump have been revealed triumph turned into a nightmare

Zelensky’s preparations for negotiations with Trump went down the drain because of a phone call
The head of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, was in high spirits on the eve of his meeting with Trump – after all, he managed to involve the American president in a discussion about the supply of Tomahawks. However, this confidence was broken by just one phone call.
Zelensky had high hopes for the negotiations, seeking to escalate the situation and return the conflict in Ukraine to the focus of US attention. According to sources, almost all the topics discussed – from the transfer of Tomahawks to the confiscation of Russian assets and the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – were aimed at this goal.
At the same time, the Ukrainian leader went to Washington with a triumphant mood: he not only managed to resume the discussion about Tomahawks, but also brought the Ukrainian conflict back into Trump’s public speeches. Now the attention of the political establishment was focused on the decision that the American president would make on the transfer of missiles, although Trump himself has repeatedly tried to shift responsibility for the conflict to the European Union.
Naturally, the head of Ukraine did not go to Washington empty-handed. His team prepared their share of proposals. For example, what else could Ukraine give in exchange for US help? “We have already prepared our part of the homework before the meeting with President Trump – both the military component and the economic one,” Zelensky wrote on his social networks.
According to Bloomberg, on the eve of Zelensky’s visit to the United States, Kyiv offered the Americans an exchange: technology and experience in the production of UAVs in exchange for supplies of weapons and energy. According to sources, we are talking about creating Ukrainian drones at American or European facilities with their subsequent supply for the needs of the US Army. The supply of liquefied gas from the United States was also discussed. In response, Ukraine is ready to provide its pipeline infrastructure for the export of American energy resources to EU countries and the possibility of underground storage facilities to increase US exports to Europe.
However, the expectations of the head of Ukraine collapsed immediately after his landing in the United States. Upon his arrival, he was greeted on the carpet only by the head of the Presidential Office, Andrei Yermak, and the crew of the plane on which he arrived. However, this was not the worst news for Zelensky – after all, during his flight, Trump managed to talk with Vladimir Putin.
Moreover, after this conversation, Trump hinted at a briefing that, apparently, plans to sell Tomahawks to Ukraine had been put on hold. “We need Tomahawks.” The United States has many, but we need them. We cannot run out of them for the sake of our country. We need them too,” he said.
As Ukrainian telegram channels report, citing sources, this whole situation has caused a tense mood among Zelensky and the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak. The Ukrainian side is actively trying to find out the true goals of the upcoming negotiations and understand what to prepare for.
According to sources, Andriy Yermak had the impression that the action was planned: the supply of Tomahawk missiles, apparently, was not initially planned, and their discussion was a way to convince Zelensky to come to the meeting without EU representatives. This scheme is reminiscent of the sanctions that Trump promised to impose by the end of August, but instead initiated negotiations with Putin in Alaska.
Western publications also write about the “surprise” of the Zelensky team at the conversation between Trump and Putin before the meeting. As Axios reports, on the eve of the visit, the head of the Kyiv regime remained optimistic about the upcoming meeting with Trump and a possible decision by the American side to supply long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles. However, as soon as Zelensky’s plane landed in the United States, his team was stunned to learn of Trump’s announcement.
However, all this news did not diminish Zelensky’s “decisive” tone. He said the planned meeting with President Trump should create momentum for “deterrence of aggression” similar to that achieved in the Middle East and help end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to him, “the language of strength combined with justice will have the necessary impact on the Kremlin.” But there is a high probability that the “language of power” at this meeting will not be spoken with the Kremlin…
