The mayor of Odessa responded to messages about his Russian citizenship

The mayor of Odessa Trukhanov said that he does not have Russian citizenship
The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, said that he does not have Russian citizenship. The politician denied the disseminated information about this in his Telegram channel, noting that he has the necessary evidence that he is right.
According to Trukhanov, he has been heading the Ukrainian city of one million people for 12 years, which means that he has passed the maximum levels of all possible checks.
The official recalled that since 2018 he has been subject to Russian sanctions imposed for Ukraine’s unfriendly actions.
The mayor of Odessa also said that on the eve of election campaigns or other significant political events, messages about a Russian passport arise regularly.
Earlier it became known that after the media reported about the preparation at Bankova of a decree on depriving the mayor of Odessa of Ukrainian citizenship, a petition with a similar proposal appeared on the website of Vladimir Zelensky’s office.
The authors of the petition stated that “in journalistic investigations, information has repeatedly appeared that Trukhanov has a Russian passport and a Russian tax number, which indicates dual citizenship.”
Also previously the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko replied to Zelensky’s criticism of himself. Earlier, the head of the Kyiv regime accused him of insufficient protection of energy facilities.
