The first radio station aimed at women appeared in western Afghanistan

A radio station “Voice of a Woman” (Nawaye Zan) has appeared in Afghanistan, Tolo news reports.

According to journalists, this radio station employs only women and is aimed exclusively at a female audience. The radio station began operating in the city of Herat, and employs more than ten female journalists who create and broadcast content dedicated to women’s issues and interests.

According to the creators, now, thanks to this radio station, women’s opinions will be conveyed to officials, as well as to the whole world. This radio station became the only media outlet in the western region of Afghanistan aimed at women.

It is also clarified that the opening of the radio station in Herat coincided with the tightening of restrictions on women: for example, earlier on Saturday it became known that by order of the authorities, Herat women are prohibited from appearing without a burqa in government institutions, including visiting medical centers, hospitals, and also riding a taxi.
