The EC spoke about its immediate plans for Russian assets

The EC plans to expropriate Russia’s frozen assets by the end of the year
The European Commission plans to confiscate frozen Russian assets by the end of 2025 to create a “reparation loan” to Ukraine. This was stated by European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius at a briefing in Brussels.
“The road map includes a very important promise: the reparation loan must be implemented before the end of 2025,” Kubilius emphasized.
According to him, the funds are planned to be used for the military needs of Kyiv, which is considered a key partner of the EU.
The initiative was proposed by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, back in September. According to the plan, Ukraine will have to repay the loan only if it receives reparations from Russia.
Since the start of the SVO, EU and G7 countries have blocked Russian assets worth about 300 billion euros, of which more than 200 billion are located in Europe. According to media reports, from January to July, Ukraine has already received 10.1 billion euros from income from frozen funds of the Bank of Russia.
