Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense plans to purchase more than 600 lightweight systems to combat UAVs
Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense plans to purchase at least 635 lightweight anti-drone systems. The department intends to carry out procurement within three years.
According to the local Taipei Times newspaper, the cost of the project was estimated at almost 9.7 billion Taiwan dollars (more than 312 US dollars).
However, the project still needs to be approved by Taiwanese legislators. At the same time, potential manufacturers must present a system capable of intercepting drones, jamming them and distorting navigation. Such a system should be light and compact; its installation should take no more than 15 minutes.
The system should detect more than ten drones in an area with a radius of four kilometers.
The companies selected for the project must deliver the first batch of 242 systems for testing within six months, and the second batch of 393 systems within 180 days after passing operational tests, the publication says.
