One UI 8.0 vs iOS 26: Samsung’s rollout starts today?

It’s Monday, and Apple is all set to release iOS 26 to iPhones, while Samsung also has a pending One UI 8.0 release for the Galaxy S25 series, so will it also happen on the same day?

Samsung has been testing this software for four months; its beta program opened a few weeks before the iOS 26 announcement at WWDC 26. However, the progress of these two OS developments has been different. At one end, Apple seeded more test versions with fixes and improvements, and Samsung’s focus was found to be struggling on the software end due to device launches.

To be mentioned, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and S25 FE are the newest phones with pre-installed One UI 8.0 update, but the Galaxy S25 series is still in the update queue. The late development goal is apparently a key reason for this rollout delay. It’s quite visible in the beta release dates, which vary through device launch and other phases of the beta program. For example, Samsung took almost a month of vacation in July before releasing the fourth beta.

The new update brings substantial upgrades over One UI 7. Though the S25 series has offered this OS out of the box, the hype around this new version is making them anxious for another software update.

Samsung has officially announced that One UI 8.0 will rollout for the Galaxy S25 series and other devices this month. However, the company hasn’t shared an exact release date. Meanwhile, Apple has released a full lineup of devices that will get iOS 26 starting September 15, an area where Samsung is heavily lacking.

While iOS 26 will be released for various iPhone models all at once, the Android phone maker will only conduct this One UI 8.0 with the S25 series.

The current test status suggests that the One UI 8.0 beta program is ready to close for S-series phones. Yet, we’ll have to see whether Samsung takes a call for the rollout.
