Modern Family star Julie Bowen horrifies fans with ‘sick’ wildlife post
Julie Bowen loves sharing her life on social media – but fans have been left bitterly divided over a recent picture she uploaded of an injured coyote.
The 55-year-old took to Instagram to post a zoomed-in snap of the wild animal which was suffering with a swollen and disfigured face.
‘My son keeps seeing this coyote,’ the Modern Family alum captioned the upload.
‘Anyone know what’s going on with this guy? An infection?’ she asked.
While some of the actress’ followers were quick to helpfully suggest wildlife organizations that could help the sick creature, others berated her for posting it.
‘What an odd instagram post… this belongs in a family group chat, Julie!’ mocked one user.
‘This is such an odd post. Of course just call a wildlife vet near you,’ slammed another.
Another laughed it was ‘exactly’ the type of picture her Modern Family character, Claire Dunphy, would post.

Most followers urged her to contact a wildlife rescue service, many believing the coyote had a tumor or had been bitten by a snake.
‘PLEASE CALL Wildlife Rescue… He is in need of medical attention really bad. Which makes him even more dangerous because he is in pain,’ commented a follower.
‘Veterinary surgeon here – I think infection is likely, maybe porcupine quills. Or trauma or tumor. He definitely needs help and is likely painful. Needs wildlife rescue,’ chimed in another.
‘If he keeps re-appearing in front of you guys, he’s most probably asking for help. Get wild life rescue on it!!’ urged someone else.
The former Modern Family star shares three boys, Oliver, 17, and twins John and Gustav, 15, with her ex-husband Scott Phillips.
Bowen portrayed Claire Dunphy on the ABC sitcom from 2009 to 2020.
In July, the actress opened up about her health woes during an appearance on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum.
During the episode, Bowen spoke candidly about struggling with the heart rhythm disorder sick sinus syndrome, which was caused by increased activity in her vagus nerve, a condition called hypervagotonia.

She explained that it was her sister, Annie Luetkemeyer, who initially diagnosed her with the condition.
Bowen recalled her sister had just graduated from medical school when she stopped to listen to her heart.
‘She was at that time in her life when she, I guess, she always carried around a stethoscope. And we were on vacation, and she was like, “I wanna listen to this.”
‘She was like, “That is not what they’ve been telling you, and it’s not runner’s heart or whatever. That means you need to go to a cardiologist.”‘
According to Bowen, her sister ‘wouldn’t let it go. I was like, ‘I’m fine.’ She would not let it go.’
One month later, after filming the pilot of Ed, which premiered in 2000, Bowen had a pacemaker fitted.
‘I was like, “Oh my God. My life is over. This is so weird. I’m gonna die.” I don’t know what I thought it was, because I was 29.’
The normal resting heart rate for women, according to the Cleveland Clinic, is between 60 to 100 beats per minute.
Before having her pacemaker fitted, the actress’s resting heart rate was in the 30s.
Despite having the batteries replaced three times, Bowen said she often forgets that she has a pacemaker at all.
