Shoppers notice popular item mysteriously disappear from shelves at Aldi Australia

Aussie shoppers have lamented that a popular pantry staple no longer appears on Aldi Australia shelves.
The budget supermarket chain previously stocked Chef’s Cupboard Instant Mash Potato mix sachets – but it hasn’t been seen in recent weeks.
‘Does anyone know if the instant mashed potato is ever coming back?’ one Aldi customer asked fellow shoppers in an online post.
‘My local store in Melbourne has been out for weeks and the spot it’s usually in has been taken away.’
Daily Mail understands that Aldi’s exclusive label Chef’s Cupboard Instant Mash Potato mix was part of the supermarket’s limited time only range. Accordingly, the item is no longer available.
On Aldi’s website, the product listing for the mash potato mix also now appears as ‘currently not available’.
Many instant mash fans were disappointed that it was no longer on shelves.
‘It’s a seasonal product, it might be back next winter,’ read one hopeful reply.

‘Darn, these were great for remote camping where weight and longevity is an issue,’ another person responded.
Several noted how convenient the instant mash potato mix was to use – especially for people with minimal cooking skills, or anyone who is time poor and needs dinner on the table fast.
One long-time Aldi customer explained that they were already aware the instant mash was a ‘seasonal’ buy after seeing it come and go over the years. As a result, they recommended others follow their lead and ‘stock up’ when it’s available, so you have plenty to last until it returns to shelves.
For those in need of an instant mash fix, several Aldi Australia shoppers suggested a worthy alternative that’s been newly added to the store’s freezer aisle.
Seasons Pride Mashed Potato 1kg ($4.60) has only recently landed in Aldi and was hailed in the recent Reddit discussion.
‘The frozen mash Aldi just started selling is great and quick to heat up if you need an alternative,’ suggested one reply.
The convenient, ready-to-heat mashed potatoes can be made in the microwave in under four minutes. The instructions state that you need only add water, although many shoppers who had tried it recommended a few other additions for taste.
‘I add a cup of milk, a good shake of salt, some rosemary and it turns out fantastic every time,’ said one reply.

An Aldi shopper lamented no longer being able to find the Chef’s Cupboard Instant Mash Potato mix in stores
‘They are great. Splash of milk and a bit of butter at the end and they are quite good,’ chimed in another. ‘My Irish ancestors would turn in their graves but it’s easy to give the kids a mash potato without the hassle.’
It’s not the only convenient Aldi meal that customers have recently been raving about.
Another popular item currently on shoppers’ radar is the World Kitchen Chicken Biryani $8.99which is stocked in the chilled section alongside other ready-to-eat meal options.
One Aussie woman only recently tried the spicy Indian rice dish after reading a recommendation about it. She was so impressed she felt compelled to rave about it online.
‘This thing is too good to be true!’ she wrote in a discussion forum post.
However, she quickly followed this praise with concern that this Aldi find appeared to be a limited-time only item.
‘Please tell me it’s not a limited time thing and it’s always there, otherwise I’m going to have a mental breakdown,’ she jokingly wrote.
Daily Mail reached out to Aldi Australia, who confirmed they ‘couldn’t be happier’ that customers are enjoying the World Kitchen Chicken Biryani and can understand why ‘it’s become a real hit’.

An online review from @aldieaterau rated the Aldi stocked ready made meal as 9 out of 10, but cautioned that it was ‘spicier than I was expecting’
An Aussie woman posted about the Aldi food find on Reddit, but feared it was a ‘limited time’ item – with many confirming, sadly, that it appeared so
‘This fragrant feast went on sale earlier this year as part of the Limited Time Only range, and will be available in our stores across the next few months, while stocks last,’ the spokesperson added.
Other Aldi shoppers sadly confirmed to the woman that at some point it was likely that the biryani dish would be removed from shelves.
But in the same breath, many noted that Aldi often brings back temporary items as permanent additions if enough customers ask for them.
‘Seasonal product,’ one person replied. ‘Will likely be around for a few months, but if it’s popular enough it might be added to the core range.’
To this, the original poster enthusiastically responded: ‘I might have to single-handedly buy every single one of them so they get added to the permanent range.’
Another person agreed, replying: ‘Our household supports and will join you! We are equally obsessed and they are so convenient and tasty!’
Other replies also praised the convenient Indian dish as a true Aldi find.
‘It’s SO GOOD!!! I buy 2 of them every time I see them,’ one person responded.
‘Best product Aldi has stocked in years!’ another agreed.
