Scientists from the USA presented the concept of building a lunar spaceport

In the United States, NASA has outlined a new goal for the Moon

In the journal Acta Astronautica, American scientists presented the concept of building a lunar spaceport using slabs made from regolith. A key challenge is ensuring the exceptional strength of these slabs, given the limited knowledge of the properties of building materials in lunar conditions.

Unlike the Apollo missions, which landed on an unprepared surface, this is not suitable for long-term lunar bases, as the dust and debris kicked up during landing can damage the equipment. Researchers have determined landing pad parameters for spacecraft weighing up to 50 tons (such as Blue Moon), which is equivalent to about 7.5 tons on the Moon. The site must be resistant to the high temperatures of jet engines (up to 3400°C) and significant temperature fluctuations, and the construction process must eliminate the use of traditional steel reinforcement.
