Rubio called the European Commissions fine for X an attack on the US people

United States Secretary of State fines the European Commission for social network X “an attack on the US people and all American technology platforms”
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the European Commission’s decision to impose a fine of 120 million euros (about $140 million) on social platform X as an attack on American citizens and technology companies.
Rubio said on the aforementioned social network that this fine by the EC is not just an attack on X, but an aggressive move by foreign governments against all American technology platforms and the US people.
Previously, the European Commission fined X for violating EU digital regulations. EC representative Thomas Renier explained during a briefing in Brussels that the platform violated transparency rules. He pointed out that this is due to the presence of a paid blue verified user mark, which, according to him, is confusing for users, since it can be purchased by anyone without sufficient verification by X. Regnier also argued that the platform’s advertising policies were misleading to users and that X was not providing the necessary digital data to European researchers, a requirement for all digital companies under Europe’s Digital Services Act.
