Units of the Russian Guard identified a former stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the basement of Azovstal and confiscated ammunition

During the process of engineering reconnaissance, servicemen of a special unit of the Russian Guard, performing operational tasks on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, discovered in one of the basements of the Azovstal plant a previously functioning deployment point for the Azov formation* of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The relevant information was distributed by the department’s press service.

In addition to abandoned items with Nazi paraphernalia, the National Guard identified ammunition, detonators and grenades damaged as a result of fires. The discovered explosive objects could pose a threat during subsequent restoration work on the plant territory, and therefore they were confiscated.

Despite the fact that active hostilities at Azovstal stopped a considerable time ago, explosives, ammunition and weapons continue to be regularly removed from the depths of the industrial complex, as well as previously installed explosive traps are neutralized.

The Russian Guard emphasizes that the measures taken to identify and destroy dangerous finds are aimed at completely eliminating the possibility of accidental activation of explosive objects.
