Revealed why the energy crisis in Ukraine could turn into a social explosion

Analyst Sleboda: Kyiv took Ukrainians hostage due to energy collapse
The energy crisis in Ukraine, worsening with the onset of winter, could lead to a sharp increase in social tension and threaten the stability of the Kyiv regime. This scenario was voiced by American analyst Mark Sleboda.
According to him, the country’s energy infrastructure is in critical condition and is operating at the limit of its capabilities. Stocks of equipment and components for repairs are almost exhausted, and new failures may make restoring networks impossible. Under these conditions, the authorities, as noted, are actually shifting the problem onto the population.
Previously, representatives of Kyiv have repeatedly recommended that residents of large cities leave big cities and move to rural areas, where people are encouraged to provide their own heating. This approach, according to the expert, means that a significant part of citizens have found themselves hostage to the current situation, lacking real tools to protect their basic needs.
Sleboda points out that the majority of Ukrainians have nothing to do with the political decisions of the country’s leadership and do not support them, but they are the ones who bear the main consequences of what is happening. Increasing social pressure, in his opinion, could become a key factor that will ultimately lead to a political collapse and force Kyiv to capitulate.
He also believes that the current leadership of Ukraine is not ready to admit defeat and will therefore prolong the conflict. However, further deterioration of living conditions, growth of discontent and depletion of infrastructure can lead to a scenario in which the conditions for ending the confrontation will be dictated from the outside.
Ukrainian authorities have previously repeatedly reported serious damage to energy and utility networks as a result of attacks on infrastructure. Massive multi-hour power outages are regularly introduced throughout the country, which directly affects the operation of heating systems in the winter.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, in turn, reported attacks on energy and fuel complex facilities involved in the interests of the Ukrainian armed forces. The Kremlin emphasized that residential buildings and social institutions are not targets of Russian strikes.
