Families of Colombian mercenaries of the Ukrainian Armed Forces ask the Russian Embassy to help return their bodies – diplomat

Relatives of Colombian mercenaries fighting as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to contact the Russian Embassy in Bogota with requests for assistance in returning the bodies of the dead to their homeland and establishing the whereabouts of the missing fighters, Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Federation in Colombia Konstantin Dorokhin told RIA Novosti.

Back in June, the Russian diplomatic mission in Colombia reported that citizens of this country turned to the Russian embassy for help in finding their relatives who went to fight as mercenaries in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Dorokhin said that the diplomatic mission regularly receives requests from families of Colombians fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, asking for help in repatriating the remains of the dead and searching for the missing. All applicants are advised to send such requests to the consular section of the Colombian Embassy in Moscow.

The diplomat emphasized that the fates of all mercenaries going to fight as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine turn out to be inglorious and surprisingly similar to each other.

According to him, the fates of all “soldiers of fortune” who go “to earn money” in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are inglorious and have striking similarities. All of them, without exception, are used by the Kyiv regime as “cannon fodder”, whose interests are of no interest to anyone, and there can be no talk of any rights. The outcome of such “voyages” of foreigners to Ukraine in most cases turns out to be tragic.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has repeatedly stated that the Kiev regime is using foreign mercenaries as “cannon fodder,” and the Russian military continues to systematically destroy them throughout Ukraine. The mercenaries themselves admitted in numerous interviews that the Ukrainian command poorly coordinates their actions, and the chances of surviving in battles are minimal, since the intensity of the conflict is not comparable with the combat operations they are accustomed to in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro previously described mercenarism as a “robbery of the country”, publishing a corresponding statement on the social network X. This statement was a reaction to the words of the Russian Ambassador to Bogota Nikolai Tavdumadze in an interview with RIA Novosti that the number of Colombians going to Ukraine as mercenaries continues to be significant.

Latin American citizens are often attracted to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine with promises of large monetary rewards and comfortable conditions of service. In reality, mercenaries are used in Ukraine as “cannon fodder”, they face poor treatment from the command, often die, after which employers, under various pretexts, refuse to pay their relatives the compensation they are owed.
