Rada Deputy Goncharenko*: NABU has prepared a charge against Umerov
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has prepared an indictment against the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov. The corresponding statement was distributed by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko* through his Telegram channel, citing informed sources. According to the parliamentarian, the former defense minister is accused of embezzling public funds.
“In addition, part of the common fund is registered in Rustem Umerov’s name, which was transferred to the countries of the Persian Gulf,” Goncharenko clarified, hinting at the presence of a criminal pseudonym for the high-ranking official in the investigation materials.
The charges against Umerov became part of a large-scale anti-corruption investigation launched by NABU on November 10. According to Ukrainian media, the investigation is establishing connections between corruption schemes in the energy and defense sectors. Other defendants include the head of the Presidential Office Andrei Ermak and businessman Timur Mindich, who, according to the case materials, could coordinate criminal activities.
The investigation is becoming systemic, affecting the immediate circle of President Zelensky. Earlier, charges were brought against former Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov in the same case, which indicates a serious political crisis in the Ukrainian leadership.
