Princess Charlotte chic

She might only be ten years old, but just like her mother Kate, Princess Charlotte has already become a fashion icon, with the clothes and accessories she wears often selling out within hours.
Now, the young royal’s favoured ensembles from the likes of Trotters and Amaia London have inspired a new collection from M&Screated alongside Made In Chelsea‘s Binky Felstead.
The mother-of-three is now an entrepreneur and founder of parenting platform Bloss after moving on from her party girl days on the reality TV show – and believes she’s found the secret to comfortable but cute childrenswear.
She’s included smart Peter Pan collars, pretty floral prints and classic knits in her collection, drawing on the timeless charm of Charlotte‘s clothing, as well as her brother’s Princes Louis and George’s looks.
The Princess of Wales often dresses her children in British brands, opting for cashmere cardigans, smart polo T-shirts and traditional coats.
And thanks to Binky’s collaboration, parents can now recreate that heritage look on a budget, with prices starting at just £10.
The capsule collection includes ballet shoes and duck wellies, horse print pyjamas and vintage tops.
Inspired by Binky’s own memories as a mother, each piece in the collection features personal designs.

‘I’ve been involved in the whole design process, down to choosing individual buttons, collars and piping’, Binky said in a statement.
‘My kids are really sensitive to scratchy fabrics and labels so we’ve used soft fabric and hidden the labels so that they aren’t uncomfortable.’
Binky also said she loves the comfort and softness of oversized clothing, noting that it looks effortlessly cool while giving garments greater longevity.
The former reality TV star explained that children can grow into the pieces and still look great a year later.
Meanwhile, it’s no wonder that Princess Charlotte was seemingly a source of inspiration for Binky’s traditional collection, with the royal already a significant influence in the world of children’s clothes.
It has long been accepted that her mother, the Princess of Wales, drives fashion sales through what she wears – unintentionally, of course.

But now it seems that shoes, dresses and even sunglasses worn by ten-year-old Princess Charlotte are also selling out within hours.
In 2023, when the royal wore a striking pair of Leosun sunglasses at the Wimbledon men’s final, the result was a 450 per cent rise in traffic on the brand website.
Classic, understated and age-appropriate, Charlotte’s wardrobe is filled with floral dresses from Spanish brands, cardigans and buckled shoes from Papouelli, a label which has experienced world-wide interest since the princess appeared in them around the time of the Coronation.
Charlotte also wears simple plimsolls from Trotters, the cult London childrenswear shop in Chelsea. Breton stripes are a favourite print.
A Rachel Riley dress that featured in Charlotte’s sixth birthday portrait was an instant sensation; the delightful £59 frock had completely sold out within 12 hours and became the fastest-selling item in the brand’s 27-year history.
For her second birthday portrait, the royal was dressed in a cosy pastel yellow cardigan by John Lewis.
Featuring embroidery of playful sheep, it sold out on the brand’s website almost instantly and was subsequently seen on eBay listed for triple the price.
Interest in the young princess’s clothes and accessories began before she was even one day old.
Princess Charlotte’s eighth birthday snaps showed her wearing the £70 Frances Willow sundress from Trotters in 2023
Minutes after she had appeared on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s, Paddington, the baby’s GH Hurt & Son shawl had attracted 100,000 visitors to their website from more than 183 countries.
It has been predicted that in a world driven by mobile phones and instant purchases Charlotte’s choice of clothes could eventually be worth more than £3billion to the UK economy across her lifetime.
