One UI 8 came first, but iOS 26 rollout is the real event

Samsung surprised every Galaxy fan by starting the Stable One UI 8 rollout hours before Apple’s iOS 26. The Galaxy S25 series is getting its major upgrade before the iPhones get theirs, but the interval is not that significant.
The Korean tech giant managed to beat its biggest opponent by kicking off the rollout of the major upgrade. However, it’s not enough to win people’s hearts, as there’s a massive, literally a massive difference in the scale of availability.
Earlier today, Samsung published a giant Galaxy AI infographic. The graphical asset shed light on key events when the Galaxy AI evolved. It has added new features, expanded supported languages, and landed on millions of devices.
You know exactly why I’m saying One UI 8 came first, but iOS 26 will win people’s hearts. Samsung’s update deployment sounds like just an attempt to stay ahead of Apple, but it is not worth it for general users.
The Galaxy S25 series has started getting the One UI 8, but the update is available in South Korea only. The company has also released the rollout schedule, which is nothing but a disappointment for millions of users.
Flagship lineups like the Galaxy S24 and S23 series are scheduled to get their major OS upgrade in October. There’s no specific date or week fixed for the release, as it totally depends on how the Stable build performs.
On the flip side, Apple is set to push its iOS 26 upgrade to all qualifying iPhones in one shot. The rollout is just a few hours away, and the iPhone maker even shared the time when users will be able to make the switch.
Every iPhone that will get the iOS 26 update today
- iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (second generation and later)
- iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max
Samsung relies on Android, but that’s not the case, preventing it from opening a general availability. Google also updates every eligible Pixel smartphone in one go, unlike Samsung and other Android vendors such as OnePlus.
Hopefully, we could see Samsung copying Apple in terms of update rollout in the future.
