One UI 8.5 tearing down and rebuilding Samsung apps – Phone and My Files
Samsung will introduce redesigned Phone and My Files apps with One UI 8.5. The latest version also debuts improved stock apps, and the 2026 update will uplift the user experience on qualifying Galaxy smartphones.
The exploration of a leaked One UI 8.5 software has exposed some of the biggest design changes in the user interface, as well as the Samsung Phone and My Files apps.

Samsung Phone
Samsung’s stock dialer app in One UI 8.5 focuses on extending the screen usability. The bottom navigation has turned into a pill, which holds the 3-function icons: keypad, recents, and contacts – without their respective labels.
This app also supports floating menu buttons, clearing more space for the UI on the display. A new feature titled “Direct voicemail” has been added, and details are yet to come out about its functionality.

Samsung My Files
Starting with the home page, Samsung is bringing back the circular category icons to the My Files app. One UI 7 has square icons with very slight rounds, while One UI 8 debuted pill-shaped icons for this particular aspect.
The new design language also expands to the “recent files” and “downloads” menus in One UI 8.5. Samsung has also separately categorized the “internal storage,” and it replaced the memory stats with the percentage of usage.
My Files in One UI 8.5 takes the search bar to the bottom as part of improving one-handed usability. Besides, the storage page has added a PC-like folder path for easier navigation, and the folders are painted to look dynamic.

What next
The leaked UI changes in Samsung Phone and My Files are exciting enough, but not final for One UI 8.5. The software is still undergoing development, and changes might be made before shipping it to Samsung device users with updates.
