One UI 8.5 may handle spam with new automatic call screening feature

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 may feature advanced automatic call screening. The new function will likely replace or upgrade the Bixby Text Call. The update is expected to be available in the second quarter of the next year.

Similar to One UI 8, early builds of One UI 8.5 have been leaked online. Power users with access to this software are digging new features and changes. Among the new ones is an “automatic call screening” that One UI 8.5 could include.

One UI 8 is available for the Galaxy S25 series globally, with expansion to older models also starting today. Despite bringing a new Android version, One UI 8 doesn’t feel like a major upgrade, and the decision seems intentional.

Pixel phones support the automatic call screening feature in the US, which the One UI 8.5 update could bring to Samsung Galaxy phones. It will function like Bixby Text Call, but won’t require user intervention to function.

When your device receives a suspicious call, the call screening feature may trigger itself. It will inquire about the intention of the caller before you pick it up. If you don’t find it worth picking, the call can be declined on the fly.

This feature is expected to function the same way as Pixels do in the US. Outside America, Google offers call screening, but there’s no automation. Users need to manually launch the screening feature to get text from the call.
