Nintendo Switch emulator Eden mysteriously disappears from Google Play Store
There’s a huge library of games on the Google Play Store, which is probably enough to keep most satisfied. But if you’re looking for something specific, like retro or console gaming, then you may need to go down a different path, which could be kind of impractical unless you already have the hardware and software in your possession.
This is where most people will start looking towards emulation, which provides easy access to games that aren’t within arms’ reach. Emulation has been a hot topic for some time now, with folks on both sides of the fence when it comes to whether it’s right or wrong. If you’re Nintendo, emulation is 100% wrong, and the company has shown many times that it will take action.
That’s why it was quite surprising to see Eden pop up on the Google Play Store a couple of weeks ago. The Nintendo Switch emulator was free to all, making it one of the easiest ways to play Switch games on your Android device. But fast-forward a couple of weeks, and the emulator has disappeared from the Play Store, leaving many to wonder what happened.
It was bound to happen
Well, that’s at least what Android Authority is wonderingsince they uncovered that the emulator is no longer available to download from the Google Play Store. They were also one of the first to discover its appearance on the Play Store as well. As you can imagine, there are probably a lot of reasons why this emulator is no longer available.
It could be something as simple as being pulled since it was violating some terms of the Play Store, or external pressures requiring the team behind Eden to bring it down. Maybe the team pulled it because of some internal issue with the software. Regardless, you won’t be able to access Eden from the Play Store for the time being.
Those looking to give it a try will still be able to find it on their official GitHub page, which is where the project was posted initially. So, within the month of September, Eden ended up where it initially started. Naturally, there’s a chance that we could see it back on the Play Store, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
