Martha Stewart fiercely slammed over rude interaction with fan during book signing

Martha Stewart has been fiercely slammed online after she was accused of being ‘rude’ to a fan during a book signing.
The lifestyle guru, 84, held a massive book signing for her new tome Entertaining earlier this week in New York City.
But one interaction with a fan sparked immense backlash for the business women after some felt she ‘ignored’ the supporter.
Video footage shared by a woman named Leigha Antonia to Instagram showed her sister approaching the table as Stewart spoke to someone off camera.
The star signed her book without even looking at the fan, who stood there awkwardly.
It wasn’t until Stewart was giving the book back to the woman that she finally turned to look at her, nodding her head as she reached for the next book to sign.
‘Not my sister waiting two hours for Martha Stewart to sign her book and she low-key ignores her lol,’ Antonia wrote in a text overlay.
The video ignited fierce fury amongst fans, who rushed to the comment section to bash Stewart for not interacting with the fan.

Some branded her as ‘rude’ and told the 84-year-old to ‘do better.’
‘That’s actually very rude,’ commented one user.
‘WTF… she was talking to someone else the whole time?’ another appalled fan asked.
‘Age does not excuse bad manners,’ replied another outraged person after someone else had pointed out that she was 84 years old.
‘If she only wanted to sign books she should have put them for sale online. Doing an in person book signing and expecting to have no in person interactions is wild,’ read a fourth comment.
A fifth said, ‘We really use the age excuse way too much, it costs no physical energy to be kind.’
‘No excuse. You’re there for the purpose of meeting people and signing their books. Have your full attention to that,’ scathed someone else.
‘She does owe her fans at the least, a “thank you for coming out,”‘ penned a different fan.

‘If it weren’t for these people no one would buy her books that she’s signing. Celebrity businesses make money off of their fans that support them. She does owe them something. A warm smile and thank you would be the least.’
‘Wow that was very rude – I’m sorry. If she doesn’t want to talk to people she shouldn’t do book signings,’ chimed in another.
‘@MarthaStewart do better,’ someone else simply wrote.
Others, however, came to her defense and pointed out that she was likely meeting hundreds of fans that day.
‘She’s doing this all day and she’s (84)… she needs a nap. I would be rude too,’ one person replied.
‘She wasn’t being rude. She was multitasking. Lots of people were waiting there for her to sign the book and ask questions. She was trying to get it all done,’ defended another.
‘Martha signed over 500 copies at this event. Even giving each fan 30 seconds, that’s over a four-hour book signing,’ someone else pointed out.
‘She’s 84 years old. When I’m 84, the only thing I want to give my attention to are my dogs! Enjoy the book! It’s fabulous.’
