Maduro: US is trying to start a war in Venezuela for the sake of natural resources

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the United States of America of attempting to organize a military conflict and a violent change of power in the country in order to seize its natural resources.

Speaking at the closing of the Greater Caribbean Parliamentary Forum in Caracas, the head of state said that the real reason for Washington’s interest in Venezuela is the country’s significant reserves of oil, gas, gold, vast water resources, fertile lands and the strategic geographical location of the country.

Maduro emphasized that the Venezuelan people were able to resist external threats and maintain sovereignty, overcoming the difficult challenges of recent months. According to him, if it were not for the natural resources of the republic, international attention to it would be much less.
