Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire with Russia for the duration of the 2026 Olympics. This was stated by the speaker of the country’s Foreign Ministry Georgy Tikhy.
A representative of the Ukrainian diplomatic department noted that Kyiv supports Italy’s idea of a global truce during the Winter Olympic Games, which will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026.
He also clarified that Ukraine is ready to start a truce now.
Let us remember that French President Emmanuel Macron also proposed a ceasefire in the Ukrainian conflict for the duration of the Olympics in 2024. But then both Moscow and Kyiv abandoned this.
There has not yet been an official reaction from the Russian authorities to the proposal of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
