Kmart shoppers in hysterics over sad $10 purchase What did you expect?

Kmart shoppers in hysterics over sad purchase What did you expect?

A customer who bought a $10 Christmas tree from Kmart Australia was left in hysterics after setting it up in their living room.

The shopper thought she picked up a bargain after purchasing the 1.82-metre-tall ‘Columbia Christmas Tree’.

But after unpacking the box and fluffing up the branches, she realised the product didn’t match the advertisement.

Rather than looking full and fluffy, the tree looked bare with multiple gaps in between the branches.

‘My fault for buying a $10 tree. I know, everyone is going to say “well what do you expect?” But it’s just funny to me. The image shows a lush full tree but it’s actually so skint,’ the shopper wrote on Reddit.

The post quickly caught the attention of more than 3,300 people, some of which showed no sympathy while others offered helpful solutions.

‘What did you expect for $10? I’d say it’s bloody good for $10,’ one wrote.

‘Appalling! But also, it’s $10,’ another added.

A third said: ‘This is why you don’t shop at Kmart.’

‘A bargain for $10. Now splurge on lights, decorations and lots of tinsel,’ another added.

Others ‘snorted with laughter’ by looking at the photo posted online.

Several Reddit users encouraged the Kmart shopper to heavily decorate the tree as much as possible to fill the gaps.

‘I have the exact same one. I was going to cry cause it’s the saddest looking tree, but then I threw everything I had onto it,’ one wrote, and said it worked perfectly.

‘We bought the exact tree. Three rolls of tinsel and lots of ornaments made it look nice,’ another said.

One person offered an alternative smart solution.

‘My son got one of these for his bedroom. He placed all the branches on one side making a 180-degree tree. It looks good and takes up even less room,’ she wrote.

Daily Mail has contacted Kmart for comment.
