Kim Kardashian is speaking out about stepdad Caitlyn Jenner‘s transition – labeling it as ‘TV gold.’

Kardashian, 45, made the remarks during the most recent episode of her family’s reality show, The Kardashians on Hulu, this week, per People.

During the episode, she spoke about the different kinds of ‘pressures’ that are associated with filming a scripted show versus a reality show.

While the latest season was filming, Kardashian was in the process of working on All’s Fair, a legal drama she co-stars in with Sarah Paulson, Glenn Closeand Niecy Nash.

Kardashian said that while filming reality TVstars are trying to get the audience to like them ‘for who you are,’ adding that when your life may seem calm, viewers get annoyed because it’s not exciting.

She compared that to filming a scripted show, where viewers just want to see whether or not you’re a good actor.

‘It’s like, what happened to the days when your stepdad turns into a woman? That was TV gold,’ the mom-of-four joked during the episode, poking fun at Jenner’s transition.

Jenner, who was born a male, had announced that they were transgender in April 2015 during a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, and confirmed in her 2017 memoir that she had gotten gender-affirming surgery.

Of course, the aftermath of Jenner’s coming out made its way on the Kardashians’ reality show at the time.

The I Am Cait star shared 22 years of marriage with Kris and they welcomed two children together, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, while she was a stepdad to Kris’ older four kids.

Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner, divorced from Caitlyn in 2015 after initially announcing their separation in 2013.

Caitlyn even appeared on this season of The Kardashians, as the family got ready to say goodbye to their childhood home in Los Angeles.

Over the years, it appears that some of the Kardashians have had a strained relationship with Caitlyn, particularly after the press tour she did in 2024 to promote her appearance in House of Kardashian.

The three-part mini series, which explored and spoke about the family in-depth, was not agreed to by the Kardashians, according to TMZ.

During the press tour, Caitlyn said that she doesn’t talk to Kris anymore, and called the situation ‘sad.’

It reportedly upset the family, including Kylie and Kendall, who took Kris’ side, per TMZ.

In October 2024, Kim took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to mark Caitlyn’s 75th birthday

Caitlyn took to X (formerly Twitter) at the time to defend her motives in appearing in the three-part project, which was produced by the Comcast-owned, Europe-based company Sky.

‘I did House of Kardashian to defend my family and I speak extremely highly of my kids and Kris – the mastermind behind it all – who I spent 22 beautiful years with,’ Caitlyn said.

Caitlyn said she ‘meant to say in the interview’ that she ‘didn’t speak with her in the context of this project,’ claiming that they are in touch with one another sporadically.

‘To be clear – I am thrilled that @KrisJenner and I are able to talk and co-parent and see each other here and there,’ Caitlyn said. ‘We spent 22 amazing years together.’

However, TMZ later reported that Caitlyn was ‘extremely remorseful’ about the comments, and it seems like she has since mended fences with the family.

Caitlyn also showed her appreciation for Kim’s tribute at the time, by reposting the snap on her Instagram Stories.
