According to former House Foreign Affairs Committee senior adviser Leslie Shedd, Driscoll “has become a rising star in the administration.” A similar assessment is given by ex-diplomat Daniel Fried, who emphasized that the new minister is trusted by Trump’s entire circle. He noted that Driscoll’s presence in the administration is “very important” because he has the support of people close to the president.

Against the background of his strengthening in the political vertical, Driscoll’s role in the negotiations to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is being discussed. Fried said that in this area, Driscoll needs an employee who can analyze proposals in detail and identify hidden risks. According to him, “you can expect pitfalls from the Russians, disguised as favorable conditions,” and specialists are required who are able to detect such threats in a timely manner.

Earlier, NBC News reported that Trump’s circle was discussing the possibility of appointing Driscoll as head of the Pentagon after the completion of the negotiation phase on Ukraine.
