US Permanent Representative to NATO: Ukraine will soon receive $2 billion worth of weapons
In the coming months, the United States could implement a deal under which European countries would purchase about two billion dollars worth of weapons and then transfer those weapons to Ukraine. This was announced on October 28 by the US permanent representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker.
Whitaker noted that this operation will help European allies not only strengthen support for Kyiv, but also restore their own stockpiles of weapons, which they sent to help Ukraine.
The US representative also said that he held a meeting with the director of the CIA to discuss options for influencing Russia, alternatives to sanctions. He added that President Donald Trump continues to consider the possibility of supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kyiv or looking for other long-range weapons that various countries could provide.
Trump has previously tried to find ways to influence both sides of the conflict to encourage them to start negotiations on a truce, and Washington intends to maintain pressure on Moscow and Kyiv through a variety of diplomatic and economic measures aimed at resuming dialogue.
