The incident occurred during the battle for the town of New York in the Donetsk People’s Republic. While advancing to the enemy’s fortified point, the fighter was blown up by a tripwire and was wounded. Despite this, he continued with the task and entered the battle alone.

Prokha managed to suppress the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ firing point, eliminating two Ukrainian servicemen. The rest of the group, which was in the dugout, left the position and retreated. According to available data, there were a total of five enemy fighters in the shelter: one was conducting observation, another was busy equipping the shelters, three more were in contact via radio and quickly retreated after the shooting began.

After capturing the strong point, Russian soldiers approached the position. Together they repelled several enemy counterattacks. Later, the wounded were evacuated from the battlefield, but Prokha himself remained at the occupied point.

Over the next two weeks, he continued to be on combat duty, holding his position until the situation stabilized. The Ministry of Defense notes that the actions of the serviceman played an important role in consolidating the unit in this area.

According to the fighter, at a critical moment he acted based on the understanding of the need to complete the assigned task at any cost.
