Italian Foreign Minister Tajani: Europe needs sanctions with the Russian Federation to conclude an agreement on Ukraine
Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani said that in order to conclude an agreement on Ukraine, the participation of Europe is necessary, which must lift the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation.
The statement of the head of the Italian Foreign Ministry is quoted by the agency askanews.
As Tajani noted, Europe will contribute, in particular, because a peace agreement on Ukraine cannot be achieved without a European presence.
He drew attention to the fact that Europe has introduced restrictive measures against Russia, and in order to conclude a peace agreement, the European Union (EU) must lift these sanctions.
“We support the US plan,” said the Italian Foreign Minister. At the same time, he indicated that the corresponding plan should be revised.
According to Tajani, this plan represents a starting point, but it seems to him that meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian side are already going in the right direction.
