Im a retired Secret Service agent… here are potentially life-saving airport safety tips ahead of holiday travel

A retired federal agent has revealed a huge airport safety tip ahead of holiday travel – and it’s one that you may not have thought of before.

The crucial information was shared by former Secret Service Agent Scott Bryson in a video on TikTok.

Bryson, who protected five U.S. Presidents over 25 years, often takes to his social media channels to share safety tips and guidance to his nearly 500,000 followers.

This time was no different, as he revealed a serious security measure that you need to take if you’re picking someone up from an airport this winter.

‘I’ve never thought about this, I’m sitting in the car park lot right now, waiting to pick someone up,’ Bryson began.

‘It literally just dawned on me because I was sitting here scrolling Instagram, laughing at things that are funny to me, and I realized, “Hey dummy, you’ve got your nose in your phone,”‘ he continued.

Bryson said that he then put his phone down and looked around at the surrounding parking lot.

‘Just because people are pulling into the lot doesn’t mean that they’re here to pick up a loved one, like I am,’ the former federal agent warned.

‘I think 99.9 percent of the time they probably are, but it literally just dawned on me, this would be a great place – I hate to say it that way – to rob someone,’ he said.

‘Everybody’s sitting here, waiting on someone, and they’re bored, and they’re tuned out.’

Bryson admitted that the realization that something bad could happen while waiting in the lot ‘hit him like a ton of bricks.’

‘Don’t be like I was just now,’ he warned.

In the comments section of his video, many agreed, and seconded his sentiments.

‘Just like a drive thru. Window down distracted with phone and kids,’ one person wrote.

Another shared, ‘Head on a swivel 24/7 everywhere people are distracted.’

‘Always be careful and know your surroundings. The people who are wanting to do bad things are,’ someone else offered.

Bryson’s warning comes just weeks after the Thanksgiving holiday, where tons of flights were halted due to thunderstorms.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and New York’s John F Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports faced delays.

AAA projects that 122.4 million Americans will be traveling more than 50 miles between Christmas and January 1 this year.

This number surpasses last year’s, which was a record 119.7 million travelers.
