Giants star Malik Nabers will miss the rest of the NFL season after suffering a torn ACL, according to reports.

The star wide receiver was hurt while trying to catch a ball during the the Giants’ 21-18 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

On Monday morning, ESPN reported that an MRI had confirmed Nabers’ worst fears and he now faces months on the sidelines with the serious knee damage.

The sickening injury occurred when Nabers jumped to catch a pass along the sideline at MetLife Stadium. He hurt his knee after planting his right foot on the turf.

The wide receiver immediately grabbed his knee and writhed around in agony. He immediately left the game and was seen being carted off the field shortly after.

Nabers’ teammates huddled around him, with Russell Wilson – who had knelt in prayer moments earlier – among the many to console the receiver.

The 22-year-old was the sixth overall pick in the 2024 draft and is the Giants’ most dangerous receiver. His absence represents a huge blow for Brian Daboll’s team.

Before getting hurt, Nabers had two catches for 20 yards in Jaxson Dart’s first start since the rookie replaced Wilson as starting quarterback.

During his own rookie season, in 2024, Nabers caught a franchise-record 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Through three games of this campaign, the receiver amassed 16 catches for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Only Odell Beckham Jr has more than Nabers’ 127 receptions across the first 20 games of his NFL career.

His injury has one again shone a light on the turf at MetLife Stadium, which has seen a host of non-contact injuries in recent years.

Jets receiver Garrett Wilson, who also calls MetLife home, branded the playing surface ‘garbage’ in 2023, not long after ex-teammate Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles four snaps into his New York debut.

‘You can just tell the difference like if you was to get on that turf and (then) go on a different turf,’ Mekhi Becton told CBS Sports last year.

‘You can tell. It’s a night and day difference in turf. It just feels lifted. There’s a lot of things that doesn’t feel right about that turf.’

Nick Bosa, Jabrill Pepers and current Giants receiver Wan’Dale Robinson have all suffered non-contact injuries on the MetLife turf, too.
