Galaxy S25 Ultra humiliated in zoom camera fight with iPhone 17 Pro Max

A recent camera test compared the telephoto zoom cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the results were surprising. While Samsung is known for strong zoom, this time the iPhone came out on top in many key areas.

A popular YouTuber @SuperSaf tested zoom levels of Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max at 4x, 5x, 8x, 10x, and even higher. At 3x zoom, Samsung looked better because it uses a real 3x optical zoom lens. The iPhone, at that level, uses digital zoom from its main camera, which isn’t as sharp.

However, at 4x zoom, the iPhone takes the lead. Its 4x optical zoom lens gave a much cleaner and sharper photo than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which was still using its 3x camera and some digital zoom. From 4x to 4.9x, the iPhone stayed ahead.

At 5x zoom, Samsung switched to its 5x lens, and both phones performed well. Even at 8x and 10x, both cameras looked good, but neither had a big advantage. But when zooming even further, like 20x or 40x, Samsung did better in bright light. The text was clearer, and the details were easier to see.

Things changed again in low light. The iPhone 17 Pro Max gave much better results at all zoom levels. Its new telephoto sensor is larger and captures more light, making photos sharper and cleaner than Samsung’s, especially at 20x zoom.

Samsung still offers strong zoom, especially at very high levels in good light. But overall, the iPhone 17 Pro Max gave better zoom performance in most real-world situations, especially at 4x and in low light. This makes it a big win for Apple, leaving the Galaxy S25 Ultra humiliated in this zoom camera battle.
