Guy Fieri is recovering after being rushed to hospital following a freak accident.

The Food Network star, 57, was taken in for emergency surgery after he tore his quad muscle by missing a set of stairs.

The incident happened while filming and left him temporarily wheelchair-bound.

‘(I) slipped down a set of steps and one foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold,’ Fieri explained.

‘So, you know, it extended me out. I looked like I was probably doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself, (it was) the giveaway point.’

Speaking to Fox News Digital on November 24, Fieri said that his doctor had never seen a tear in ‘the biggest, thickest part of your quad in half.’

He added that he needed to go through with the procedure to make sure that his muscle didn’t ‘recede.’

‘You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone,’ Fieri added.

‘But this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle and it exploded.’

The incident happened during filming of his latest Food Network show, Flavor Town Food Fight.

‘So, right in the middle of filming and we’ve got everybody in town and all the chefs there and 125 people on set – and everybody’s ready to go – and I’m in surgery,’ he explained.

‘We figured out how to pivot through it and to have some creative filming techniques. But it’s been a run.’

Further details about the show remain under wraps.

Fieri hosts multiple shows on the Food Network, including Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, Guy’s Grocery Games, Tournament of Champions and Guy’s Ranch Kitchen.

He also helms a new spin-off, Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas, which debuted earlier this month.

Fieri has been married to his wife, Lori, for 30 years and the pair have adult children Hunter and Ryder.

His son Hunter, 29, married his girlfriend of two years, professional pickleball player Tara Bernstein, in August this year.

Hunter and his now-wife tied the knot at Fieri’s lavish California estate with 350 of their loved ones in attendance.

In 2023, Fieri said he doesn’t plan to leave his sons any money in his will unless they end up with degrees.

The TV personality, who has an estimated $70million net worth, said that told his sons he’s ‘going to die broke’ and not leave an inheritance unless they meet the educational parameters he set.
