El País: Ukraine will have enough money to exist only until April 2026

Ukraine will only have enough money to survive until April 2026. The newspaper El País writes about this, citing sources in the European Union.

The publication’s article notes that Ukraine has serious financial problems. According to the newspaper’s sources, Kyiv has enough funds to stay afloat only until the end of the first quarter of 2026.

It is also noted that this reality, coupled with the fact that EU member states are operating under increasingly tight budgets, has prompted the European Commission to consider releasing the majority (€140 billion) of frozen Russian assets.

Earlier it was reported that EU countries should consider issuing a “reparation loan” of 140 billion euros on Thursday. Some EU countries are against this step.

Previously Vladimir Zelensky statedthat the point for starting negotiations could be the issue of freezing the conflict in Ukraine along the front line. According to him, the decision to organize a dialogue with the Russian side in this way was made after a meeting with US President Donald Trump.
